The annual Saltwatch Snapshot
will be held from 9 - 15 May 2005. The snapshot is an excellent
opportunity for rural and urban communities to learn about salinity
and develop an awareness of local water quality issues.
Registrations closed on April
15 and so far we have received 144 registrations. This is a significant
increase from last year, which is great news.
A larger number of community groups
have registered and for the first time, we have groups that represent
business and industry participating in the Saltwatch program.
All up we will be monitoring at over 200 sites across the state.
In the next week or so you will
be receiving your Saltwatch kit. Your Saltwatch kit contains:
- Instructions for Saltwatch
2005 and instructions for the calibration of your meter.
- Calibration solution for your
salinity meter
- 2 mystery solutions to be tested
before sampling at your monitoring site
- The Data Record Sheet
- 2 fact sheets about salinity
- A participant evaluation form
- A return envelope for you to
post your results back to the EPA (note: don't forget to return
your results by 27 May 2005)
Alternatively, you can download
